Centre Console Dog Car Seat – Faux Leather – Black – Foldable, for Cars, SUVs & Small Trucks – Up to 5 kg
A Foldable Black Faux Leather Centre Console Dog Car Seat
This black faux leather centre console dog car seat turns the armrest between the front seats into a raised, cushioned spot for a small dog, keeping them close to you with a view out of the window. It is sized for cars, SUVs and small trucks with a centre console at least 23 cm (9 in) wide, and suits small dogs or cats weighing up to 5 kg (11 lb). Away from the car, it doubles as a carry bag and folds flat for storage.
Key Benefits
- A view for small dogs – the raised console position lets your dog see out of the window and stay close to you.
- Firm, shape-holding sides – a stiffened plastic plate in the walls helps the seat keep its form, while the slim sides leave more room inside.
- Stays put – a two-point strap system fixes the seat to the console and the front headrests so it does not slide once fitted.
- Easy to clean – the faux leather exterior wipes clean and can be rinsed with water.
- More than a car seat – use it as a carry bag with the shoulder strap, and fold it flat when not in use.
Features
- Black faux leather exterior with a woven-look textured finish
- Soft grey plush lining
- Double-sided cushion with a soft plush side and a woven breathable side
- Black plush bone-shaped pillow
- Built-in adjustable safety tether with a clip
- Front storage pocket
- Adjustable shoulder strap for carrying the seat as a pet bag
- Strap that wraps around the console, plus straps that attach to the front-seat headrest bars
- Folds flat to approximately 3 cm (1.2 in) thick
Installation and Use
- Measure your centre console. It needs to be at least 23 cm (9 in) wide; the seat suits both single-lid and split-lid armrests.
- Unfold the seat and place it centrally on the armrest.
- Fasten the strap around the console and tighten it so the base sits firmly.
- Attach the upper straps to the headrest bars of the driver and passenger seats and adjust until the seat is held securely.
- Place your dog in the seat and clip the safety tether to a well-fitted harness.

Size, Fit and Vehicle Compatibility
Both of these checks need to be met before use:
- Your dog: weighs no more than 5 kg (11 lb) and measures no more than 34 cm (13.5 in) in body length.
- Your vehicle: has a centre console at least 23 cm (9 in) wide. Suitable for cars, SUVs and small trucks with single-lid or split-lid armrests.
Care and Cleaning
Wipe the faux leather with a damp cloth, or rinse the exterior with water for heavier dirt. Allow the seat to dry fully before folding or refitting. Shake out loose hair from the lining regularly.
Safety Guidance
- This is a comfort and booster seat. It has not been described as crash-tested and is not a substitute for a crash-tested vehicle restraint.
- Always clip the tether to a harness rather than a collar, and keep it short enough that your dog cannot climb or jump out.
- Check that all straps are secure before each journey and that the seat does not interfere with gear selectors, controls or your driving position.
- Follow your vehicle manufacturer's guidance on airbags and pets travelling in the front of the vehicle.
- Do not exceed the maximum weight and never leave your dog unattended in the vehicle.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will this console dog seat fit my car?
It fits most cars, SUVs and small trucks as long as the centre console is at least 23 cm (9 in) wide. It works with both single-lid and split-lid armrests.
What size of dog is it for?
Small dogs or cats weighing up to 5 kg (11 lb), with a body length of up to 34 cm (13.5 in).
How is it fixed in place?
One strap wraps around the console and further straps attach to the headrest bars of both front seats, holding the seat steady from below and from either side.
Can I use it outside the car?
Yes. With the shoulder strap attached it can be carried as a pet bag, and it folds flat to about 3 cm for storage.
How do I clean it?
Wipe the faux leather clean, or rinse the exterior with water, then let it dry fully.
Is this a crash-tested restraint?
No. It is a raised comfort seat for small dogs and should not be relied on as a crash-tested vehicle restraint.
Questions from Dog Owners
Choosing the right car seat for your dog is about more than comfort — it's about keeping them, and you, safe on every journey. Every seat we sell is built to hold up properly if you brake suddenly, and is designed with UK travel laws in mind, so your dog stays secure without feeling restricted. Below are the questions our customers ask us most often, answered in plain terms.
Yes, provided the seat is fitted correctly and matches your dog's weight. A good car seat keeps your dog from being thrown forward in an emergency stop and stops them climbing into the footwell or onto your lap while you're driving. Look for one with a secure seatbelt strap and a sturdy internal harness clip, rather than just a soft bed with no restraint.
The Highway Code (Rule 57) states that dogs must be suitably restrained so they can't distract you while driving or injure you and themselves if you stop suddenly. It doesn't specify an exact product, but a car seat, harness or crate that keeps your dog in place is generally considered compliant. Driving with an unrestrained dog can also affect your car insurance if you're involved in an accident.
It's best avoided. Airbags are designed for adult passengers and can seriously injure a smaller animal if they deploy. Dogs are also more likely to distract the driver from the front seat. If a front seat is genuinely your only option, disable the airbag first and use a properly fitted harness or seat, but the back seat is safer whenever you can manage it.
Small dogs generally do best in a raised booster-style seat rather than a flat bed, as it lets them see out of the window, which many find calming, while still keeping them clipped in. Look for a seat with padded sides so they can't be jolted around, and a base wide enough that it doesn't tip when your dog shifts position.
Larger breeds are usually more comfortable in a full-width rear seat cover combined with a harness that clips to the seatbelt, rather than a raised booster. This gives them room to lie down on longer journeys while still being restrained. Check the weight rating carefully, as not every seat on the market is built to hold a dog over 25kg securely.
Start with your dog's weight and size, then think about how they travel — nervous dogs often prefer a raised, enclosed seat, while relaxed dogs may be happy with a flatter bed style. Check that the seat attaches to your existing seatbelt rather than relying on loose straps, and make sure it's machine washable, since muddy paws are inevitable.
Weigh your dog and measure them from nose to tail base while standing, then check this against the size chart on each product page rather than going by breed alone, as weight varies a lot within breeds. If your dog is between two sizes, it's usually better to size up slightly so they have room to settle rather than feeling boxed in.
They solve different problems. A hammock protects your seats and stops your dog falling into the footwell, but it doesn't usually restrain them on its own. A car seat clips into the seatbelt and keeps your dog in one place. Some owners use both together — a hammock for the seat protection and a harness clip for the restraint.
Most of our seats sit directly on the back seat and secure using your car's existing seatbelt threaded through the base straps, so no tools or fixings are needed. Once it's pulled tight and doesn't slide, clip your dog's harness to the internal safety tether. It typically takes a couple of minutes once you've done it the first time.
There's no single law naming "seatbelts for dogs" specifically, but the Highway Code requires dogs to be suitably restrained in a moving vehicle. A harness that clips to the seatbelt, a car seat with a built-in tether, or a secured crate all satisfy this. Leaving your dog completely loose in the car is what the law is aimed at preventing.
Our car seats are designed for standard car seatbelts, so they're not suitable for motorbikes. In a van, they'll work fine as long as the rear or front seats have a proper three-point seatbelt to thread the straps through — flat cargo areas without seatbelt points aren't a suitable fit.
Yes, our smaller seats work well for cats, particularly nervous travellers who feel safer raised up and able to see out. Just check the weight and size guide first, and keep in mind most cats settle better with the sides zipped up rather than left open, unlike most dogs.
For most healthy adult dogs, a few hours is perfectly fine, but it's worth stopping every couple of hours on longer trips so they can stretch, drink water and go to the toilet, the same as you would with a young child. Puppies and older dogs generally need shorter stretches and more frequent breaks.
Most covers unzip from the frame and can go straight into the washing machine on a cool, gentle cycle. Give the base a quick wipe with a damp cloth first to remove any loose mud or fur, and let the cover air dry fully before zipping it back on to avoid any musty smell.
Nervous dogs often do better in a seat with raised, padded sides, which feels more like a den than an open platform. Being able to see out of the window also helps some dogs settle, while others prefer a bit more enclosure. It's worth pairing the seat with a blanket or item that smells familiar for the first few trips.
Start with short trips of five to ten minutes so your puppy associates the car with something other than the vet. Let them explore the parked car and the seat first without the engine running, then build up gradually. Keeping the same seat for every journey helps them settle faster, since it starts to feel familiar rather than new each time.
